Bride

Aurora
Cox-Steib

Rorie was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, attending elementary through graduate school in the great Rose Rock State. In 2015 Rorie moved to Northern Virginia for her first big girl job as a teen services librarian. Rorie, her sister, and Alfie drove across the country toting along all of her worldly possessions inside a u-haul trailer (including a dresser that she has been trying to give away ever since). After a year of making friends, making enemies, and dating ding dongs Rorie was ready to either enter the world of a serious relationship or take a much earned break. Just when our young hot professional had been ready to throw in the towel, enter the dashing Reed Tewell.

Our Story

First meet

Reed and Rorie first met in person on July 23rd 2016. Rorie has saved the snapchat from when she boldly gave out her address. She didn’t normally allow men to pick her up from her apartment (she has been an avid true crime fan for life) but had a good feeling about this guy. Reed picked Rorie up in his brand new lexus. The air conditioned seats still remain the fanciest feature that Rorie has ever encountered inside of a car. They dined at a now defunct restaurant in One Loudoun, Bourbon, Burgers, and Beer. Little did Rorie know, Reed had actually suggested the location due to their cheesecake in a jar. They bonded over a mutual love of eavesdropping, listening in on a woman having some sort of loud and shocking life crisis. Reed forgot his wallet and Rorie being the ever chivalrous and thoughtful dinner guest picked up the tab (Reed would like it mentioned that he did venmo Rorie for the totality of the bill plus a tip for inconvenience). After dinner the two strode arm and arm around the shopping center chatting and avoiding bugs and nothing else….

First kiss

Well maybe some kissing…..first kiss also July 23rd 2016…..let’s move on

First "I love you"

After about three months of dating Rorie had completed the “falling in love” process and was ready to speak those special words. After a conflab with her closest confidants, Rorie felt confident and ready to tell Reed she was in love. No one is surprised that Rorie said it first. Reed was a gentleman, replying to her declaration with thank you. Reed said I Love you shortly after. The emotional hare and tortoise haven’t stopped saying those three special words since.

Living together

After a lengthy courtship Reed and Rorie moved to Leesburg Virginia together in August of 2019. This was a big step for both of them, and while Rorie has never truly recovered from once having total control over the cleanliness level of her home, they have now settled into an excellent routine.

Proposal

Ahhhh….the proposal. In fall of 2021 Reed tried to propose to Rorie a number of times. Firstly he took her out for a fun day in downtown Frederick. The two strolled along the creek, had a delicious fancy lunch, and even bought a great rug you’ll see when you enter their home. Unfortunately Rorie insisted on taking a back alleyway as a short cut to their car. She loves a short cut, thus avoiding the beautiful picturesque creek that Reed had planned on popping the question at. Next Reed took Rorie out for a fun day of shopping. He got her all the books his arms could carry. Only one problem, it was pouring rain. Ever the princess Rorie waited inside the bookstore while Reed fetched the car. Finally Reed took Rorie to Eddie Merlot’s, a spot for many of their fancy dates, and after a delicious meal the two tottered back to the car. Reed came over to Rorie’s side and bam, a car down the road turned on their brights. The young groom-to-be was startled and another perfect engagement opportunity was thwarted. Long story short the two ended up getting engaged in the comfort of their own home, just those two,                     just perfect.

Groom

Reed Tewell

Reed was born in Jacksonville, NC. Being a child of a military family, he moved often growing up until eventually settling in the Washington, DC area around age 11. After he graduated school, he quickly grew a taste for the 'finer things' in life that the area has to offer and is always looking for the 'next best' food/event/technology. Around 2015 he set his mind on himself for self-improvement, eventually landing a great job and becoming quite fit in the process. He met Rorie after a string of awkward / meaningless dates and they hit it off immediately. The rest is history.

Tips and Tricks

Pre-Arrival

  • The resort will give you a card to carry to prove your all inclusive status at restaurants and bars. Keep this in mind when packing and planning your carry around bag.
  • Bring your driver's license in addition to your passport. They need it for check in.
  • The resort provides robes and slippers, so no need to pack your own unless you really want to.
  • Bring a wet bag or a plastic bag in case you want to swim on your last day.
  • AT&T works in the DR with no extra cost, many other phone plans are reasonable and will prompt you when you land and turn off airplane mode.

Arrival

Many folks are arriving on Monday. Our plan is to be camped up at the bar by where you check in. Let us know when you arrive we’d love to say hi and welcome you!

At the Resort

  • This place is BIG! Your cart can take you anywhere on the 10,000 SQFT resort. It's a weird feeling at first, but there's so much to do!
  • The introduction from the staff makes it sound like all-inclusive package has weird windows for meals, but it's truly anytime. Including room service! All is included - use it! After trying many different things, the only additional costs on our final bill were tips we left on receipt.
  • Tipping, cash is preferred by staff as it goes to person, if you tip on the receipt it goes to the resort as a whole
  • American Dollars as well as Dominican Pesos are accepted at many places
  • Tax is included in the all inclusive plan we all have
  • Swim up bar has nice hand pump sun screen and after sun available
  • You do need rezzies at restaurants for dinner but easy to make through phone
  • There is a shuttle every 30 minutes for Altos (the re-created Spanish village we are getting married at) and the marina.
  • Zip line and buggies are off site
  • Shooting and the dude ranch are on site
  • Check out is at 11, we found it easy to extend if needed, just talk to front desk
  • A tip for when you fly home, there are kiosks in the front left where you print your bag tag and get your paper boarding pass. Do this before entering your bag check line.
  • Also at the airport after you grab your tickets, you can pay a small fee (can't miss it) and go through a much shortened security line if you like (Reed and I did this during our site visit and it was easy and fast)
